3/25 Meeting - New Tree Canopy Data Revealed for Public Comment - Only 33%, not 41%!

DON'T MISS OUT! Empowering Your Neighborhood's Tree Canopy - FREE

Come see oversized maps of Arlington’s tree resources and potential planting areas of the future. If you want to know what’s really happening, you can get valid data to confirm your convictions about Arlington’s tree Canopy.

Arlington is very fortunate to have a significant remaining tree canopy. This meeting will show how to use the new, updated tree canopy study of Arlington performed by the nationally recognized Green Infrastructure Center for individual neighborhoods. Among its many findings, it turns out that the Arlington tree canopy is not the 41%% claimed by the County using the 2016 data but was only 33% in 2021 using newer data and analysis techniques. While the average reduction was 8% County-wide, some areas appear to have up to 17% less than prior estimates. This is an alarming realization that even in our leafy neighborhoods, our natural resources are less than we thought. These numbers do not include tree losses to in-fill development since 2021 or other removals from public lands..

It would be very useful for your neighborhood to have your participation in this highly interactive event. Please feel free to share the information below with any organization and/or other interested parties. Please register here.
