Four Volunteer Opportunities with Arlington’s Tree Canopy Fund!

Concerned about the declining tree canopy in Arlington? The Fund works to increase Arlington County’s tree canopy by working with owners of private property, including single-family homes, townhouses, condos, and places of worship. Residents can apply to get a native tree planted on their property and some grants are also available for maintenance of large mature trees. Originally authorized by the Arlington County Board, the program is administered by EcoAction Arlington in partnership with the Urban Forestry Commission.

The Fund is starting four important initiatives to improve the tree canopy in currently underserved neighborhoods. There are four opportunities to volunteer to make the many benefits of trees available to all citizens. The opportunities are:

  1. Join the Tree Canopy Equity Advisory Committee to share your expertise, spread the word and mobilize your network.

  2. Help canvas the Green Valley neighborhood to promote, educate, and secure private property planting sites for the Fund.

  3. Man the Tree Canopy Fund Info Table at the Drew Dragon Dash, a 1-mile fun run, on Saturday, May 21st

  4. Trees for Apartment Complexes outreach to property managers to promote the Fund and plan for planting projects this fall at the site.

For all the details see this flyer. You can make a real, substantial difference right now!
