ATAG spoke to Zoning Commission and the Forestry and Natural Resource Commission on Missing Middle Tree Damage Monday

Monday, December 12, 2022, the Arlington Planning Commission heard ATAG’s concerns about the Missing Middle Housing Study Draft General Land Use Plan and Zoning Ordinance Amendments.  This was the last review before the County Board votes on the proposal in January.  ATAG will be spoke at this meeting, but the Planning Commission needs to hear from you, too!
Arlington County is nearing its decision on the Missing Middle Housing proposal, and time to influence that decision is running out.  As currently crafted, the proposal will further decimate Arlington’s tree canopy by cutting the tree canopy coverage requirement in half.  We must act NOW!

If you’re confused as to how the Missing Middle Housing proposal will affect tree loss, take a look at ATAG’s December 15th presentation to the Forestry and Natural Resources Commission.  We think you’ll also want to see the Forestry and Natural Resources Commission comments to the County Board on the proposal and its potential to further negatively impact the tree canopy of interest too.

The Planning Commission meetings can be viewed online with closed captioning at arlingtonva.us or on YouTube. The Forestry and Natural Resources Commission meetings can be viewed at the Commission website.
