Join us in saving Arlington’s precious urban forest along Donaldson Run

We invite you to join our email list with information in support of preserving Arlington’s precious urban forest along Donaldson Run. We are concerned about the rapid loss of trees on public and private lands. An Arlington County “stream restoration” project designed back in 2010 is of questionable current benefit, but has recently been rescheduled to begin this fall or winter. The project’s planned removal of 81 trees, endangerment of 52 other trees, and removal of other vegetation along 1400 feet of Donaldson Run in the Nature Area is very serious and deserves careful reconsideration. These irreplaceable mature trees are important to the environmental quality, energy efficiency, and psychological health of Arlington.

The time to insist on reconsideration is NOW.  The only way to save this part of Donaldson Run is through citizens voicing their support. You can sign a petition asking County leaders to defer the project at

The Donaldson Run Tributary B project, costing taxpayers over $1 million, must be put on hold until better alternatives are developed to more effectively to meet all the community’s goals. If you would like more information, please visit our web site,
